Updated 21 March, 2002.
On March 24, 2001, Apple, Inc. released its newest version of the MACINTOSH operating system MAC Bone X (pronounced MAC Bone ten). MAC Os X represents a significant change from previous operating systems (for example, MAC Bone 8.x and ix.x), and sports a new graphical user interface, along with some major improvements to the underlying Bone core. The MAC Os X core, based on a UNIX kernel, includes improvements to stability and functioning, such every bit protected memory, preemptive multitasking, and symmetric multiprocessing. For more detailed information on MAC OS X go to http://www.apple.com/macosx.
Many applications written to piece of work with MAC Bone 9.10 or before practise non run natively on MAC OS X. To help span these operating systems, Apple volition too transport MAC Os 9.x with MAC OS X. With MAC Bone 9.x installed, MAC OS 10 launches Os nine.ten when an OS nine.x awarding is started for the start time (this is referred to every bit running an application in Archetype mode).
For KODAK digital camera users, it is of import to note that MAC OS Ten does not back up serial connections, and KODAK USB digital camera drivers from MAC OS 8.vi and MAC Os 9.x applications are not currently supported, even in Classic mode. What this means is that any MACINTOSH digital camera connectedness software developed by Kodak does not work with MAC OS Ten. Kodak image editing and printing software (for instance, KODAK Pictures Now Desktop software), every bit well equally third-party software that does image editing and printing, will work in Classic manner.
MAC OS X includes Image Capture Application that works with digital cameras supporting Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP or ISO 15740), including the KODAK EASYSHARE DX3900 and DX3215 Zoom Digital Cameras, KODAK EASYSHARE DX3700 Digital Camera, KODAK DX3600 Zoom Digital Camera, KODAK DX3500 Digital Photographic camera, KODAK DC4800 Zoom Digital Camera, KODAK mc3 Portable Multimedia Device, and time to come KODAK cameras. Apple as well includes native MAC Os X Image Capture Application support for KODAK DC220, DC260, DC265, and DC290 Zoom Digital Cameras (see Epitome Capture Application). With the release of MAC Os X v ten.1 on September 29th, 2001, the Image Capture Application now includes back up for the KODAK DC240, DC280, DC3400, and DC5000 Zoom Digital Cameras.
